Dr. Abu Sufian

I am Sufian, an assistant professor at the University of Gour Banga, India, and a former postdoctoral researcher at the National Research Council of Italy – Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent Systems (CNR-ISASI), Italy, where I have contributed to the national consortium project Future Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR, 2023–2025), focusing on Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition, and Machine Learning for multimodal data analysis within responsible and trustworthy AI frameworks.

I have over 14 years of academic experience, including nine years as an Assistant Professor at the University of Gour Banga, India, where I also served as Head of the Department of Computer Science and led curriculum development initiatives. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, India.

My research lies at the intersection of Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and Generative AI, with applications in Media Forensics, Biometrics, and Healthcare. My work emphasizes AI fairness, bias mitigation, and explainability, aiming to develop equitable, transparent, and socially responsible AI systems.

I have authored 50+ peer-reviewed publications in venues such as Pattern Recognition, Knowledge-Based Systems, IEEE Access, ICCV, and ECCV, accumulating over 2,800 citations (Google Scholar) and 1,600 citations (Scopus). I am a Senior Member of IEEE and a Lifetime Member Member of the Computer Society of India.
