Dr. Sufian is an Assistant Professor at the College of Computer Science, Umm Al Quwain University, UAE, and an Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) at the University of Gour Banga, India, Currently on lien. He is also a former postdoctoral researcher at the National Research Council of Italy – Institute of Applied Sciences and Intelligent Systems (CNR-ISASI), Italy, where he contributed to the national consortium project Future Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR, 2023–2025), focusing on computer vision, pattern recognition, and machine learning for multimodal data analysis within responsible and trustworthy AI frameworks.
He has over 14 years of academic experience, including 10 years as a substantive (full-time) Assistant Professor at the university level, where he also served as Head of the Department of Computer Science and led curriculum development initiatives. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, India, in 2022.
His research lies at the intersection of computer vision, deep learning, generative AI, and cybersecurity, with applications in media forensics, biometrics, and healthcare. His work emphasizes AI fairness, bias mitigation, and explainability, aiming to develop equitable, transparent, and socially responsible secure AI systems.
He has authored 55+ peer-reviewed publications in venues such as Pattern Recognition, Knowledge-Based Systems, IEEE Access, ICCV, and ECCV, accumulating over 3,100+ citations in Google Scholar and 1,800+ citations in Scopus. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Lifetime Member of the Computer Society of India.
He has delivered numerous invited talks at national and international events and institutions.
